Please read the following rules and procedures carefully and verify that you meet ALL transfer requirements, BEFORE placing your transfer order with us.

  1. The administrative contact for the domain name you are requesting to transfer to us will receive an e-mail from us soon after you place your transfer order. A response must be received from that contact within three days, to verify that the request to transfer is indeed authorized by the official administrator of the domain. If we do not receive approval from the administrative contact within the allotted time, the transfer order will automatically be canceled WITHOUT any notice and we cannot be held responsible if the domain ultimately expires with your current registrar and it results in website downtime or loss of your domain.

    NOTE: To verify that you have access to the e-mail address to approve the transfer, please submit a WHOIS query by entering the domain name here:

    Enter your domain name and look at the e-mail address listed for the Administrative Contact of the domain name. If you do not have access to that e-mail account, please contact your current registrar and have them update the Administrative Contact BEFORE you place the transfer order with us. We will not issue any refunds if the transfer ultimately fails due to your negligence in this regard.

  2. After the Administrative contact has approved the transfer of the domain to us, we will submit the transfer request to the registry. Your current registrar may then contact you to make their own verification that the transfer request is authorized. If you do not respond to your current registrar's Transfer Verification Notice within the appropriate time period, they will probably decline to transfer the domain to us. If this does happen, do NOT attempt to resubmit the transfer order via our web site, as you will be charged again. Contact us to have us resubmit the transfer request for you.

    NOTE: Some registrars, particularly Network Solutions, will give you a very hard time during this phase. They may not send you the notice at all or send it on a weekend with a three-day response window, or they may claim that they have never received your approval although you did approve it. We suggest that you contact your registrar if you do not get a Transfer Verification Notice from them within 2 days after you have approved the transfer to us. If the transfer is ultimately declined by your registrar, please resolve the problem, if applicable, and contact us to have us resubmit the transfer request.

  3. If you transfer a .com or .net domain name within 30 days of renewing it's registration, the renewal will be cancelled after the transfer to us is completed. As a result your domain's registration period will NOT be
    extended by an additional year as is usually the case. To prevent losing the year we advise you to wait 30 days after renewing before initiating a registrar-transfer to us.

  4. After you have have responded to your current registrar's Transfer Verification Notice, it will take up to 2-3 days for the registry to approve the transfer. After the transfer is approved by the registry, you will be able to log in to our Control Panel to manage your domain.

    Following are three cases in which you will NOT be able to transfer your domain to us. Please verify that you meet these criteria BEFORE placing your order with us.
    1. A domain that has been registered at its current registrar for less than 60 days ago, can NOT be transferred to another registrar, by ICANN regulation. Please wait 60 days before placing your order.
    2. A domain whose registration has already expired will almost certainly not be allowed (by your current registrar) to be transferred away. Please verify that your domain is not already expired and that it is not on "hold" status for any other reason. Furthermore, some registrars will not allow the transfer of a domain within 30 or 60 days of its expiration date. Check with your current registrar about their policy in this regard. You should, under no circumstance, place a transfer order within 14 days of your domain's expiration date.
    3. A domain that is on "lock" with your current registrar, cannot be transferred. Most registrars will not lock your domain unless you request them to do so. If it is locked, this is sometimes indicated on the WHOIS output.
    4. If you are transferring a .info or .biz name, you should first contact your registrar to find out the "auth code". The auth code is set by the registrar and used by the registry to verify a registrar transfer.
